Content is King

Did you know? Everyone talks about content, gotta have tons of content on your website. Confirmed - let me explain, I'm just finishing up an online store for a client with 3k+ products - Littles To Bigs | Family Necessities - it's due in a hour and a half 10am 10/31/09 just waiting for all the files to move from the dev server to the live one! So think of it like this just products alone they have 3000 pages with 300 - 500 words on each and properly peppered in are relevant keywords just by the nature of the beast, now this means high crawl times but it also means loads of keywords that fit in with the content on the product pages as well as 3k + pages to link to! Can you say PageRank I'll be babysitting this site for months to come and I'll keep you posted on stats and PR and a milestone timeline as a test case for how king content is. That's it for now and don't forget if you need a big website in under a month hit us up at Studio12Designs ecommerce website / seo specialists and follow us on Twitter and fan us on facebook, etc.

-Right now my only caveat is getting google to update it’s cache for http://www.littlestobigs.com so i’ll have to do some extreme back-linking and push the sitemap I guess.

-Fixed the google cache issue linking to it had the problem remedied within 24 hours!

The Importance of SEO Blogging

Why Blog + Tips & Tricks for new seo bloggersUsing your blog as an seo tool is one of the top 10 ways to increase your website's search engine performance. It gives you a place to spill your guts about what you do, how you do it, and everything involved which in turn opens up an opportunity to touch on a lot of keywords, write blogs about those and link them back to their related content on your website.

Here is a quick tip for getting started, take the main categories of your website and make a blog entry for each one, talk about each category in extreme detail, whenever you mention a page title on your website make that text a link to the corresponding page of your website. Now take 5 keywords or key phrases from each of the categories that we wrote blog entries about and write separate even more detailed blog entries also linking your referenced pages back to the appropriate page on your website.

Don't break the time bank, in other words, pace yourself, your time is just as valuable as anyone else, so write one blog entry a day, at first, and then scale it back to say every other day and eventually bring it down to once a week, that is a great place to stay, remember your blog's target audience is google, so too much blogging is impossible, especially with the ridiculous amount of competition on the web.

Promotion is king, so don't forget to announce your new entries on friendfeed, myspace, facebook, twitter, digg, diigo, StumbleUpon, delicious, mixx and reddit, also copy your blog entries to the free blog services, blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal, Tumblr and vox. This goes for the content on your website as well, except you wouldn't want to dilute your search engine presence by copying your pages to the free blog services.

Give credit where credit is due, if you reference third-party websites you should probably help them out by giving them a link, unless they are the competition of course, but then you probably won't be referencing them, either way if you need to link to someone else's website, do it, they might return the favor, even more so, if you ask them to.

Add relative pictures and / or video to your blog entries, The search engines and, believe it or not, humans love pictures and video or media in general, and it just gives you more places to link to and from and helps you build that link nest for your website, you should also use the normal seo tricks when posting images and videos, make sure there is "alt text" on them and links with titles if necessary, link any keywords mentioned in the captions and descriptions.

That's all she wrote for today, figuratively speaking, come back and look for updates and seo insight, often, don't forget to follow us on twitter and check out our website, you might also want to become a fan on facebook.

Blogging With Flock [cont]

It's pretty straight forward and easy to use probably the best solution to posting to multiple blogs I've seen yet... It doesn't automatically post to multiple blogs simultaneously however I simply opened the blog editor, wrote the blog(s), and published to blogger, wordpress, and livejournal in a couple of clicks!
